Vidyard, formerly Vidyard GoVideo, is a browser-based screen recording and video-sharing platform built primarily for sales, marketing, and internal communication. It allows you to record your screen, webcam, or both, then share the resulting video via a link or embed it on a webpage or in a form. Whichever works best for you and your users.

Account and Login Requirements

A login is required to use Vidyard wether you have a free or paid account. You can sign in using an online account, such as Gmail, or with a standard email address. This account is necessary to save videos, manage your library, share content, and enable view tracking and analytics. It also supports Vidyard’s AI features and integrations.

Setup and Ease of Use

Setup is super simple. Vidyard runs as a Chrome extension, and once installed, you log in and can start recording immediately. There is no complicated configuration, making it easy to get up and running quickly. We had no technical glitches at all, getting webcams and mics working.

The interface is web-based, easy to navigate, and offers a number of templates to get you started quickly, as well as help you learn some of what is possible with the program.

Recording Options

When recording, you can choose exactly what you want to capture:

• Record a single browser tab
• Record a specific application window
• Record your entire screen

This makes the program useful and flexible, letting you record demos, walkthroughs, presentations, and support explanations without exposing unnecessary content.

Vidyard also includes AI-powered tools. You can type out a script and have it spoken by an AI avatar, using either stock avatars provided by Vidyard or custom avatars you create yourself. This can be useful if you want consistent delivery, and frankly, I'll probably try it out on some of our MajorGeeks YouTube Videos to reduce the number of "Um"'s and "ahh"'s.

Videos can be trimmed, stitched together, and shared via a simple link or embedded on websites. (like above) Link sharing is pretty nifty because you don't need to download the video or upload it anywhere. Just send it in to whoever you like, and you're good to go. This is a big time/tech saver. Vidyard also tracks when viewers watch your videos and how much they engage with them, which is especially useful for sales and marketing teams.

The free plan works well for basic recording and trying out the platform. It is easy to see Vidyard being useful for tech support, internal how-to videos, or even just sharing a few tips or tricks with friends or coworkers without attaching large files or explaining things over and over. Record a quick screen walkthrough, send a link, and you are done.

But most of the advanced features, like deeper analytics, branding, and expanded AI tools, live behind the paid plans whihc @ $59+ per month, is going to be way too pricey for most casual users.
