In the video from ABC News it shows a suspect with an unidentified object in his left hand gaining access to the vehicle by seemingly disabling the alarm.
The unknown device is thought to possibly trick the alarm system into thinking that a key fob is being used to unlock the car. This is a concern because there is essentially no marks or signs of tampering to the vehicle which makes the apprehension of the suspects that much harder.
This might not really be that new, because with all the car apps that exist to unlock, and start your vehicle it simply could be a case of a hacker intercepting the information from the app and using it for his criminal activity.
