This startup technology vendor is operating globally, delivering innovative data storage and revolutionary data encryption technology via its unique global cloud storage platform. Due to some aggressive growth plans, we require a full-time CFO capable of taking the company from just after initial setup, through rapid growth and to IPO within the next 18 months.
The Role:
Reporting to the CEO, COO and Directors, this newly established role is integral to managing the financial aspects of this fast growing technology company, which is changing the face of internet security & privacy. This role will see the incumbent become part of a pioneering and entrepreneurial global business within the IT sector.
The successful applicant will take control of the finance functions of the business, working with the leadership team to ensure sound, well-managed continuous growth. Initially the role will involve establishing a solid foundation of systems, processes and internal controls and in due course, the appointee will grow the finance department from scratch by sourcing and employing, as and when required. The appointee will be a hands-on operator who can match the energy and enthusiasm of the shareholders and other stakeholders, yet give a grounded perspective on the feasibility of ideas in order to contribute to the success of the business.
The ideal applicant for this role will:
- Have proven ability in managing the CFO role for a 30-40 person, $5-50m global business
- Be experienced in managing a small finance team
- Have worked for a growing technology vendor
- Have experience working with visionary entrepreneurs
- Have experience in working with multiple stakeholders in multiple geographies and time zones
- Have a passion for technology
- Possess the ability think outside the square when appropriate
- Always have a positive can do attitude
- Bring a strong sense of business acumen & analytical nous to the company
- Be responsive to a constantly changing environment in which new, innovative products are being developed and delivered to the market
- Have proven experience or involvement in capital raising and/or the IPO process in New Zealand or Australia
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take an active role in selecting & implementing an accounting system capable of handling a very large number of transactions.
- Sole responsibility for the timely & accurate preparation and management of the GL, payables/receivables, payroll & GST
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts and the reporting of the financial performance to senior management.
- Manage the preparation of Annual Statutory Accounts for the company and to assist in the preparation and filing of Group Consolidated accounts
- Preparation of periodical budgets, planning and forecasting
- Overseeing the development and implementation of good internal controls
- Manage all Treasury operations and cash flow forecasts, including working with and accounting for multiple currencies
- Assist the CEO and COO in funding, investment and banking related activities
- Establish solid relationships with department heads and other key internal stakeholders, and externally with regulators and government departments
- Contribute significantly to the capital raising and IPO processes
ESSENTIAL:
- Chartered Accountant or equivalent with a minimum of ten years experience
- Experience in financial statement preparation, consolidation, reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Knowledge of an Internet delivered accounting system will be an advantage
- Must be hands-on, fully familiar with standard computer technologies and productivity tools
- A self-starter with demonstrated ability to work proactively with all levels of management
- Budgeting and reporting skills to ensure that senior management and the Board of Directors receive accurate results as compared with budgets and forecasts
- Must possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, attention to detail, and strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
