How to Remove the Facebook Timeline
By Timothy Tibbetts |
How it works
Before we tell you how to change it, let's explain how it works. Basically, you are seeing the HTML that Facebook has designed, so it is not any different than any other website you view. You see what the developers want you to see. It's that simple.
How to remove Facebook Timeline
Luckily all of today's modern browsers support some plug-ins, add-ons or extensions to customize your browser. The most popular plug-in available currently is Facebook Timeline Remove. As mentioned above all it does it intercept the HTML code from Facebook and substitute it with the old style giving you the pre-Timeline layout. There are a few limitations and bugs here.
In other words, your only solution has limitations. Personally, I keep track of many TV shows and musicians on Facebook so not being able to load their fan pages is a deal breaker for me. My Internet Explorer went into a refresh loop on the Majorgeeks Fan Page for example, and I think that was more annoying than the Facebook Timeline. You will be able to see all of your updates from liked pages in your timeline, and it is all good unless you go to the liked page. It seems like something many should be able to live with.
We should note here that there are other extensions available from other developers but these guys seem to be first and doing it best. There is also some controversy that another company has stolen this code, so we feel this is the safest bet.
Downloading Facebook Timeline Remove
Currently, only Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer are supported. The good news is that covers about 95% of you and a Safari version is under development. Simply download the add-on for your browser:
We also made this available for download, so all browser plug-ins are in one zip. This is handy if you have multiple browsers and computers. Grab it at https://www.majorgeeks.com/Facebook_Timeline_Remove_d7720.html.
