"There are actually several versions of this program released. Most of the other users here seem to have the windows 95 version of tie fighter collectors edition. Unfortunately, I have the DOS version which is much harder to get to work. Had issues running this program in dosbox - every time the game went to load it said it couldn't detect VESA. Running the 'minimum' install seems to fix the issue. Also note that Tie Fighter installs a tie.cd file in the root directory of your c drive, so if you're having additional issues it might be worth mounting something as c:\
Tried running this on a 3 ghz Pentium 4, but it's still somewhat too slow. Also, I recommend turning off hyperthreading in the bios if you can, dosbox seems to consume no more than 50% of the cpu otherwise (which makes the game run slower)"
